Fishing
Corofin is known as an angler's paradise. Inchiquin lake is a short distance from the village and is a wonderful centre for coarse fishing. Boats are always available for hire.
The river Fergus rises in the Burren and flows through this area on its way to the Shannon estuary. A network of twenty lakes of varying sizes on both the main river and its tributaries form an extensive area of great angling waters. Its high calcium content encourages healthy fish life. Within this area there is a wide range of angling available including salmon, brown trout, pike, perch, bream, tench, rudd and eels. The Irish record for tench, at 3.7 kg. was caught in these waters and has not yet been broken.
