 Lisdoonvarna is well known as the home of the Matchmaker. The town comes alive each year during September for the great matchmaking festival.
It ia a spa town, and its sulphur baths were reputed to cure rheumatism. The sulphur baths were the reason the crowds flocked here in the olden times-to 'take the waters'. In more recent times 'the wells' have become the traditional venue for Sunday morning dancing during the matchmaking season. |
