Natural attractions like the wondrous, lunar-like Burren landscape and the dramatic Aillwee Cave are within a short drive, as are a multitude of interesting historical centres such as 15th century Bunratty Castle & Folk Park and the Craggaunowen Bronze Age Project.

Golf
If you are a golfer Clare has much to offer. There are a number of excellent courses, the most famous being The Links Course at Lahinch, on which the South of Ireland Golf Championship is played annually, in the Summer. There are two courses in Ennis, the old Ennis Golf Club (which is just 5 Mins from the house!), and the newer Woodstock Golf and Country Club. More courses for all ambitions are in Doonbeg, Dromoland, Gort, Spanish Point, Kilrush and Kilkee.

Watersports
The beach at Lahinch is a 30 minutes drive from Ennis and offers safe swimming with a lifeguard on duty during the Summer months. Lahinch is also renowned for having ideal conditions for surfing. Surf lessons are available at the surf school on the seafront. On the seafront at Lahinch is Lahinch Seaworld. This is a magical place especially loved by children, but with much to offer the grown-ups too. Other beaches can be found all along the coast. The Kilrush Activity Centre offers all kinds of watersports including sailing and yachting.

Night-time entertainment

Co. Clare is famous for traditional Irish music and, from Strasburgh Manor, you can readily experience this great tradition in character-filled pubs throughout the county.
The town of Ennis has a number of traditional pubs with daily live sessions as well as Festivals of Traditional Irish Music.
The Glor Irish Music Centre is the venue for concerts, films and theatre.
Medieval banquets, a wide range of attractive restaurants, and many different cultural and community festivals also offer plenty of entertainment options - all only a few drive from the house.


Strasburgh Manor is ideally placed for touring the wider West Coast of Ireland,
being centrally located between the spectacular Connemara region in Ireland West
and the picturesque areas of Killarney and the Ring of Kerry etc. in Ireland South West.
